Final Project: My Movie

This is my final project for ART 365: Art Blogging and Social Networking Media. For this class I created a blog based on all things photography, including my own.

Our final project had to reflect our blog. I decided to create my first ever Stop Motion movie! I didn't create a traditional Stop Motion video since I wanted to focus on photography around my house. I created my own kind of spin off. I tried at first to create the typical Stop Motion video, but the details were lost in the featured photography. So I guess you wouldn't call this a Stop Motion movie but I don't know what you would call it !!

I focused on all of the pictures scattered throughout my house. My mother has had an impact on me in the sense that I now love taking pictures as much as she did while me and my brothers were growing up.

Her interest in photography as well as my father's has led me to love it. I wanted to http://animalcollective.org/ http://animalcollective.org/ video look as if someone is walking through the halls of my house. It took over 300 pictures and quite a bit of editing time with iMovie to create the piece. Overall I like how it came out!

The music is Brother Sport, by Animal Collective.

I am pretty proud of how it came out! All it took was my camera, iMovie, and a lot of patience.

Excellence Expo Results

The Excellence Expo I have been gabbing about was on Wednesday. Little did I know (until about the night before) I also had to present my ePortfolio I have been working on since last semester. I basically spent the day running all over campus..in the rain I might add!

I also had an image featured in the photography portion that I created last semester.

Overall, I did pretty well! For my ePortfolio I won best display of an Academic Portfolio. This was a huge honor because I have been trying to keep up with adding my work to my pages.

For my poster I created for my Communications Law and Ethics class, I won the best poster for my category, "Advertising in the Media!" Each category had their own judge who talked to each presenter. The expo was really cool; a very unique combination of topics. It was a great experience. I have never done something like this before. However I am glad it's over!

Class are done next Wednesday and finals begin the Monday after. Time to get cracking. I still can't believe how fast this semester flew!

Photographer of the Week: Bruce Mozert & Silver Springs...The Life Aquatic

Silver Springs, Florida was an amazing place for people to visit. It is one of the largest artesian spring formations around. The water is crystal clear allowing visitors to see all the way to the bottom.

Photographer Bruce Mozert was hired to take new images to keep the tourists attracted to the location.

He didn't do your average point and shoot tourist images but instead constructed a waterproof camera. For an incredible 45 years, Mozert created scenes completely underwater and photographed them. They featured people doing everyday things such as playing golf, reading the newspaper, and grilling. He used tricks such canned condensed milk to create "smoke" coming off of the grill.

The way he portrayed Silver Springs was in a light, carefree way. Check out some of the images he created:

Mozert is now in his 90's and still taking pictures. His last underwater shoot was in 2004. He now takes aerial shots and even flies his own plane !

The Perks of Being a Photograph

The one thing that has always drawn me to photography is the fact that it captures a moment of history. Pictures live forever and are memories framed by a single "click." I love going to my grandma's house and looking through my great ancestors' photographs. I have no idea who any of them are but it is amazing to look through them and know we are somehow connected. My grandmother has done quite a bit of research on our family tree, so she explains who each person is.

Photographs tell their own story. Although viewers might not guess the entire story behind the image, they have come up with their own story for that moment in history. I just think it is amazing that photography truly captures events that will never occur again.

So anyways, here are some random old images I found.

America

My generation experienced the horror of September 11th and now we have lived through this. This is an amazing moment in history.

I would love to be outside of the White House right now!

Excellence Expo Poster!

I finished my Excellence Expo Poster Thursday, after going through about 7 glue sticks. Here's a quick picture I took of it (I will take more at the actual expo):

The title is: "Photojournalism vs Photoshop, When Editing Images Cross the Line."

Alice in Wonderland

I have always been obsessed with Alice and her adventure's in Wonderland. I was searching for images of Alice to use for a project I was doing in Graphic Design and found so many amazing pictures. There have been many Alice inspired photo shoots done by various fashion magazines.

These images are all so creative and tell the story of Alice.
The one photo shoot I found really amazing was done by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue. She was one of my Photographer's of the Week.

Here are some others I found:

And a bonus the first ever film made version of Alice in Wonderland:

Polaroid Scarves

I found these awesome Polaroid Scarves designed by Philippe Roucou.

These scarves are created from random polaroids that have been found at various places. Most of the photographers are unknown.

I think the random picture idea is awesome but it would also be cool to be able to put your own image on a scarf.
